Voter's Reject the Insurance Industry's Initiative 1082
Voters recognized the danger in the fine print of Initiative 1082 and rejected the insurance industry’s attempt to take over Washington’s workers’ compensation system.  As of November 9th, I-1082 was voted down by a margin of 58.99% to 41.01%.  Insurance Commissioner Mike Kreidler opposed the measure, which would have exempted the private insurance industry from virtually all oversight and consumer protections that cover every other type of insurance sold in Washington.  It would have let insurers set their own rates and allow them to wrongfully deny and delay legitimate claims with virtually no way to hold them accountable.
